The gods of color have spoken: N. 18-3838 is the color that Pantone has chosen for 2018 to influence fashion, art and design in the new year!
Prepare to see this beautiful shade everywhere, especially when it comes to the world of hair color through amethysts, lilacs, lavenders and hues that will simply leave us breathless!
Pantone has annually defined the color guide of coming year for decades, forecasting the trends through studies, statistics and influences that inspire the world of popular culture. The company describes the tone as “symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. Musical icons Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of western pop culture as personal expressions of individuality.“
And now, colorists can dive into the creation of personal expression through hair! In tune with the whimsical terminology of our color clients (the unicorns and mermaids) Pantone’s website deems that, “Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now; the vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.”
And what is more otherworldly than colored hair!
Ultra Violet shows character and elegance, a perfect interpretation for the deep and reflective mood of the winter season. International hairstylists have already jumped on the purple hues, with combinations with in blond, gray and brown, offering a range of options for a look aligned to the color trend of 2018! By sensing Ultra Violet’s potential, we can now offer a gallery of looks inspired by the mysterious tone in their latest hairstyles collections.
