Fall Nail Trends… Dark or Soft?

This season our favorite nail trends straight from the runway include alluring oxbloods, seductive silvers, sheer nudes, and gunmetal lacquers.

Less is more this fall. On the runways one theme seemed to be omnipresent: super simple beauty. Deep seductive colors keep things mysterious, but they can sometimes make hands look unladylike if nails are too short. By filing nails in an almond or oval shape you can help elongate your fingers. One of our favorite lacquers for the season is OPI’s ‘4 in the morning’, a true-to-hue charcoal and a softer black, making it more flattering on all skin tones.

We were obsessed with soft barely-there pinky nudes (seen on the runways of Diane Von Furstenburg and Narciso Rodriguez) like CND’s ‘Chiffon Twist’. Fairer skin tones should opt for a sheer pink with a touch of milk in it, while those with darker skin should use two coats of a brighter version of the hue. Sheer opaque shades were also favored on the catwalks (like on the models for Kate Spade’s and Carolina Herrera’s collections). A nude nail mani is a simple way to create a fresh and luminescent look, as CND’s ‘Weekly Polish’ demonstrates.

For those who are trying to get in touch with their inner femme fatale, oxblood hues made their appearance on Rebecca Minkoff‘s runways and even deeper tones were on models’ tips at Kenneth Cole. We love the half-moon matte mani’s and the seductive silver hues we’ve seen around fashion week. Even Morgan Taylor came up with ‘Scene Queen’, a light gray packed with silver micro shimmer that we can’t get enough of. If you’re ready to try something bold, go for the reverse matte mani’s seen on DKNY’s catwalk, both daring and sexy!
