Anne Veck explains that the name Mood Indigo takes its inspiration from a beautiful mix of blue and violet: indigo is a tone that radiates power and charm . Mood Indigo is the title of a 1930s jazz composition by Duke Ellington , “ later performed by my favorite singer of all time, Nina Simone, on her 1958 debut album Little Girl Blue, ” this renowned hairdresser tells us. “ Miss Simone was, of course, a tireless civil rights activist and she is my inspiration for this collection, in which I celebrate the beauty and strength of black women and black hair, its power and its allure. “
