After a hiatus caused by the pandemic, HOB Uncut was back at a new venue with new techniques and stunning collections.

 HOB Uncut

The HOB Uncut show, now in its fifth year, attracted some 160 hairdressers from Italy. More came from Europe and around the UK to see the creative team present their latest cutting methods. This was an up close and personal eventat Proud Cabaret in Central London.

The team presented creative looks from their Viper collection. They also showcased commercial, wearable styles from their brand-new ICON collection – easy-to-wear styles for all your clients.

International Creative Director Akin Konizi presented on stage by Head of Education Jake Unger, Senior Educator Nestor Sanchez, Head of Technical Barry Maddocks and Educator Dale Herne presented short, sharp haircuts combined with soft textures and bold colours. Reds collided with short fringes while a platinum blonde transformed into a soft buzzcut.

“Clients want to look attractive and beautiful even with conceptual hair,” explained Akin. “The idea is that you take a creative haircut and dilute the concept for your clients to make it wearable.”

“As an artist you are interpretive, as a craftsperson you are an expert at your craft and that is what we are; we have the foundations, the skills, the knowledge, how to hold hair and direct it, that’s what’s important. It’s about being good at what you do and proud of your job.”

Nestor explained how the fundamentals are found in every haircut you create; when you break down any hairstyle the fundamentals are always at the heart of the haircut. Jake showcased wrist positions and razoring methods that will leave you in control of your texturising.
