Seung ki Baek and His Korean Adventure!

A long standing member of the RUSH Artistic Team, Seung ki Baek has had a varied and exciting career at RUSH. Having moved to London to pursue his hairdressing dreams, Baek joined RUSH and has created an incredibly loyal clientele as a salon stylist working at RUSH Epsom and reputation as one of the teams most skilled and creative individuals.

Seung ki Baek is a member of the RUSH Artistic Team and RUSH Academy Education team. His desire to teach and share the RUSH Way is one of his passions, he has managed to fuse a career as a salon stylist, educator and a member of the RUSH Artistic Team – he’s a triple threat and achieved what many strive to achieve.

Leaving his native South Korea many years ago, his homeland is never far from his thoughts, with Baek regularly travelling back to visit his family, friends and many of his hairdressing colleagues. Recently, Baek delivered education to South Korea’s next generation of hairdressers whilst undertaking judging for MILBON’s DA Inspire Competition.

New collection, Metaverse

During his time in Korea, Baek undertook a variety of educational seminars, educating to a group of 100 people at one session. Baek has recently released the new collection, Metaverse. He took this opportunity to share the concept behind the collection and showcased the techniques used in order to create the finished looks. With the UK and South Korea varying in their technique and approach, this was a great session for Baek to share his knowledge from London, with his Korean colleagues – uniting

both nations in one sitting. Throughout the educational seminars, Baek focussed on the cut and colour placement for each look, explaining the reasoning behind each and why this played a vital part in the outcome and overall hair vision.

Adding another educational session into the mix, Baek also focussed on session styling. Baek explained to the audience about his experience with London Fashion Week and proceeded to showcase a few ‘session looks’ such as the power ponytail and the use of extensions, taking the students through the thought process behind the looks, adding a consumer spin on each to allow them to translate into salon trends.

Aside from the education sessions, Baek also took part in the judging process for the Milbon DA Inspire Competition, a great honour for any stylist and a very sought after competition. The judging saw Baek view a variety of models and shots that were entered by stylists across the country. Baek evaluated the cut, colour and styling techniques, giving feedback and choosing his top looks to make it through to the finals. With an incredible number of entries, it was a chance for Baek to see just how passionate and creative the next generation of stylists in his home country are.
