2025 is the year we’ve all needed – new trends, creative changes and individuality. With colour still a huge salon service, this year we are already seeing an increase in cuts, with clients opting for shorter styles and more recently playing into the Creative Crops trend.
Creative Crops are the name of the game in salons up and down the UK. We caught up with Rainbow Room International Artistic Director and Schwarzkopf UK Ambassador Suzie McGill on what to expect from the ‘Creative Crop’ trend.
“Creative Crops is something that I am very excited about for my clients,” says Suzie. “Over the last few years many have stayed loyal to their long locks, opting for gorgeous beach waves longer inspired looks, whereas 2025 is the year of the shorter cuts and much more creative styles. Although longer styles will remain, we will see a shift in the trends, with shorter cuts overtaking the long lengths.
“For me, there are 3 stand out looks for 2025 that I expect to see gracing the runways and of course the salons floors alike:
The Pixie

For SS25, the pixie will be the biggest trend, without a doubt. It’s such a statement look that completely transforms any individual. Although previously known for being short and sharp, the style has evolved with longer lengths and sharp lines becoming much more softer and the addition of colour, alongside disconnected textured throughout. For those looking for something a bit different, the addition of a micro fringe to the look will completely transform this overall look.
Box Bob

The bob is back and for 2025, the box bob is the style of choice. Shorter in length than the traditional look, this is one that will continuously evolve and become much more versatile, allowing the client to style in different ways and adapt to their own preferences. Sitting slightly shorter than the jawline with longer pieces throughout, this gives the client the creative touch they desire with the option to style to their own preference. The addition of colour flashes throughout will make this style much more unique to the individual. Opt for hidden panel vivid flashes to really make this look stand out.
Short Shag

A huge trend in 2024, the shag is evolving even more, with the shorter length taking the lead for the new year. The length will become much shorter as the style evolves, incorporating a lot more disconnection throughout, giving it a real creative cut. Think more tapered sides, with longer lengths blended into the fringe section. This is a real creative style and perfect for those clients who want something completely different for the new year!
