Hair artist Christophe Gaillet talks about his latest work – the stunningly ethereal Anamorphosis Collection. This work takes its inspiration from art, especially from the incredible visionary of two of the greats: Caravaggio and Man Ray.

CHRISTOPHE, WHY DID YOU CREATE THE ANAMORPHOSIS COLLECTION?
The Anamorphosis Collection introduces us to an abstract interpretation of hair art, where hair becomes a transformed material akin to pictorial art.
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
It was totally inspired by art, but above all by 2 incredible, visionary artists: Caravaggio and Man Ray. 2 eras, 2 styles: one for surrealism, the other for realism, even though everything was at odds. We wanted to create this beautiful alchemy, and the result is astonishing.
WHAT WAS THE CREATIVE PROCESS?
Documenting the artists was very important. Then came the drawings to harmonise volumes, textures and colours. A very precise mood board was presented to the photographer so that he could highlight each interpretation. The choice of our mannequin was decisive, so that the poses would be masterful.
