The inspiration for the Mon.o Collection is from Mimi Kobayashi’s country of birth, Japan. There is also a fusion with her experiences of living in the UK.

For her Mon.o Collection, Mimi Kobayashi @ Billi Currie has used the juxtaposition between Japanese and British culture. “The cultures of both countries form my roots, and both influence my work immensely,” she explains. “With this collection I took the spirituality of Japanese ‘zen’ – meaning peace and calm – and combined it with the edginess, style and tone of contemporary London.” The result is soft, whimsical looks but with strength and movement. The mix of textures and layering showcases the British influence while the character and feel reflect the spirit and essence of Japanese zen.
