“The inspiration for my Femme Collection this year is female empowerment; how it was embodied in the 1980s through iconic fashion moments,” explains Nikita Fisher. “Fashion in the 80s allowed for a revolutionary freedom of expression; this in turn empowered women to create powerful new looks.
Nikita explains more: “The era incorporated modern fabrics and textures to form bold new silhouettes. It was an era that allowed women to also create their own image; from the Power Suit, which disguised the feminine form through broad shoulders as well as oversize tailoring. These created a commanding, professional presence, to the popular high-leg leotard of 80s sports culture. This allowed women to also celebrate their bodies and take pride in their shape. Hence my Femme Collection!
