With several Paul Mitchell Schools in Houston and Louisiana, Dean Winn Claybaugh was grateful and relieved to learn that the schools are safe but sad to hear that many of their students and staff –along with so many others in the hurricane’s wake– have been personally affected.
To immediately help their beauty industry colleagues in need, Paul Mitchell Schools are raising money for the Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation, which will then be donated to PBA’s Disaster Relief Fund (donation site: bit.ly/pmharvey)
Winn Claybaugh is also reaching out to everyone he knows with some ideas on how the beauty industry can raise / donate. Anything you can do to help spread the word to raise more money would be greatly appreciated:
– “If you work in a salon, use your salon team and client base to raise money and ask for donations,” says Winn.
– “Contact salons and other businesses you have a good relationship with and ask them to do something.“
– “I always connect with the vendors who support our schools to ask them to donate. They make money from our schools all year long, so this is their opportunity to give back.“
– “I am personally reaching out to random friends and contacts to ask them to donate. TRUST ME, people feel desperate and hopeless with the devastation of this hurricane, and they will lovingly and enthusiastically welcome your offering to donate,” says Winn.
Winn’s message to Paul Mitchell Schools owners was to reach a goal of $100,000 this week and a total of $200,000 by the end of September. Paul Mitchell Schools already raised over $63,000… and they are just getting started.
The Andrew Gomez Dream Foundation was on the forefront with disaster relief for beauty industry students and professionals during Hurricane Katrina. For the month of September 2017, they are coming together once again to raise money for industry victims of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Harvey. Already called the most devastating tropical storm to hit the continental United States, Harvey has so far left over 30,000 people without homes and businesses, and the storm continues. Please help AGDF raise $100,000 immediately, and $200,000 in one month so they can get much-needed money and resources into the hands of beauty industry students and professionals who need it now.
