These days, hanging poolside requires some finesse…and making sure it’s a good hair day is crucial. Meghan Hopkins, Artist with Pureology Serious Colour Care and stylist at Cobalt Blue Salon (Austin, TX), gives tips on how to look chic with the perfect poolside coif.
“The most important thing about poolside hair is protecting your color from the sun and chlorine, the next step is looking good doing it,” says Hopkins.
Poolside Tips
DRY
1. Before going out, spray dry hair with Pureology Colour Fanatic multitasking hair beautifier for color treated hair. It has 21 essential benefits to strengthen and protect hair for longer-lasting, perfect-looking color. Even if hair is not color-treated, this spray helps moisturize and strengthen to prevent breakage and split ends.
2. Spray texturing spray into dry hair to encourage curl pattern, de-frizz and refresh wavy to curly hair before pool and/or afterwards.
WET
1. Apply Pureology Colour Fanatic Instant Deep-Conditioning Mask to wet hair before going into the water to protect and minimize absorption of chlorine. After, rinse with cool water, and voila, hair is already conditioned.
2. Apply Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine to wet hair and comb back and away from the face for an ultra chic wet look.
HOW TO
Female Updo: Take a U shape section on top of head, brush loosely back and secure with a pin by creating an X with 2 bobby pins in the crown. Fluff with a tail comb for height. Brush the remaining hair on sides and back to the back right corner of head and twist upward. Once twist hits the bottom of the X in the crown, secure twist with pins by placing 1 bobby pin at the top where hand is and the other on the inside of the twist.
