Congratulations to Wella’s 2015 Regional Trend Vision Winners!

The 4th Annual Regional Trend Vision event, held at the Depot Renaissance Hotel in Minneapolis on Sunday April 26th, is one of the largest regional competitions in the area. 

This year, over 200 innovative colorists, ambitious young stylists and aspiring beauty school students from 22 states, entered for the chance to showcase their passion and talent in one of three categories; Student, Young Talent or Color. On Sunday night, over 350 guests cheered for the 23 semi-finalists as they competed live for a chance to advance to Wella’s prestigious North American Trend Vision Awards.

The Gold winners in each of the categories will proceed to the next round, the North American Trend Vision Awards in Las Vegas on July 19th .

(Under 30-years-old, less than 2 years’ experience)
GOLD: Erika Nash from Root Salon, Minneapolis, MN
SILVER: Samantha Balagat from Ergun Tercan European Salon, Denver, CO
BRONZE: Mary Grace Miller from Capitol School, Omaha, NE

(Age 30+ and up and work in a salon.)
GOLD: Stacie McIlwain from CCU College, Nashwauk, MN
SILVER: Jamie Dowling from Ergun Tercan European Salon, Wheat Ridge, CO
BRONZE: Raymond LeyvaOkazaki from Bijin Salon, Kansas City, MO

(To be qualified for this category, students are either in school or are recent graduates)
GOLD: Christina Van Allen from Hays Academy, Concordia, KS
SILVER: Jamie Arrington from Regency Beauty Institute, Circle Pines, MN
BRONZE: Nicole Woszcyna from Regency Beauty Institute, St. Charles, IL

Silver Award winners received 2-day education vouchers to the Wella Studio facility in New York and Los Angeles. Bronze Award winners received 1-day education vouchers to the Wella Studio facility in New York and Los Angeles. Silver and Bronze Award winners in the Student category received recognition and product gift baskets.

Judges for the Minneapolis event included, Brenton Lee, 2014 North American Trend Vision Color Winner; Carole Protat, Creative Director, Wella North America and Lauren Salapatek, Editor for Modern Salon. The evening also included artistic presentations from Wella, Sebastian and Sassoon.

Showcasing your skills against the best stylists and colorists in the industry, you’ll have the unique chance to bring your personal vision and craftsmanship to life. The Wella Professionals annual TrendVision Awards offer a spectacular platform for true creativity where up-and-coming stylists as well as the most masterful color work within the industry are duly recognized.

Join the national group of competitors to feel the incredible thrill of competing in one of three categories: Color Vision, Young Talent or Student. A fantastic array of prizes and ultimately the chance to really make your mark in the industry await you. The Color Vision, the Young Talent and the Student category will each be awarded a Gold, Silver and Bronze award at the North America TrendVision Final.


This year, Wella will elevate mastery in color to new heights: the Color category of the TrendVision Awards will be replaced by COLOR VISION. To find the best talents in color, new criteria have been established, making this part of the competition more challenging and its win even more rewarding than ever before.


STEP 1: Choose the category you want to participate in (Color Vision, Young Talent or Student) and carefully read the rules and regulations for that category.
STEP 2: Get inspired by the Wella Professionals Trends and create a unique look that demonstrates a significant change to the model’s hair.
STEP 3: Form your team including: a model, assistant/makeup artist, photographer, and wardrobe stylist (optional).
STEP 4: Prepare your registration package online, including: Completed entry form, one photo of your finished look and one “before photo” (see photo details in the corresponding category’s rules and regulations) Completed category questions.
