Michael Haase proposes his own interpretation of Grunge, drawing inspiration from it’s evolution starting in the 1980’s and its revival in the 2010’s. Now it’s as contemporary and stylish as ever… one could say almost classic!
Grunge today is one of those styles and movements that keeps coming back. And every time it does, it seems more contemporary than ever, as if it never really went out of fashion. Michael Haase is one of the keenest observers of the evolution of style. Once his observations have taken hold, he expresses them on his own terms.

“From the onset of the 2010’s the movement of grunge took a front seat. It collided with the fashionable and sometimes lost youth following the then chaotic music scene. Their looks were not for everyone and their choice of music was even sometimes shunned. So began a movement of decadent dress and even more outlandishly delicious hair. This could only be explained as an artistic look book.”

“Grunge was a musical evolution of punk in the 70’s and 80’s. it was very popular with some Seattle based bands. The revival in the 2010’s was brought on as a vengeance toward the indie pop scene.”

“For hairdressers, I think the 80’s were our celebration of the craft time. You couldn’t stand and watch hair being done without getting your hands in it. We created our own chaos as we usually do. Music has led my work for decades. I can’t celebrate enough the joy I feel of creating in a different direction once again, if only to lead for a short while until the next uprising.“
