On November 24, the beauty world came together for the spectacular Live Fashion Hair Awards 2024, a fantastic event that blended shows and education with competition.
The Live Fashion Hair Awards 2024 also featured a strong educational foundation at the impressive Adán Martín Auditorium in Tenerife, designed by renowned artist Santiago Calatrava. Partnering with its main sponsor, Booksy, the organization launched the second edition of the Booksy x Live Fashion Awards, aimed at discovering talent in hairdressing, barbering, and nail artistry. Each year, global anticipation grows to see who will be the new award recipients, and Live Fashion Hair takes pride in being the platform that highlights fresh talent. This year, the coveted title of Hairdresser of the Year was awarded to Italian hairdresser Daniele de Angelis, based in London and representing Toni&Guy (see the full list of winners below).
A great family known as the “Live Community” has been formed over the years, bringing together professionals from around the world. This year, many finalists traveled to the Canary Islands to experience the gala live. The 2024 edition, hosted in Tenerife for the second consecutive year, broke all participation records, with 1,354 collections submitted from 29 countries.
The finalist collections across all categories stood out for their innovation and mastery. They showcased cutting-edge haircuts and exceptional creativity in the use of textures and colors. These works captured the essence of 21st-century hairdressing, emphasizing personalization, technology, sustainability, education, trends, and diversity.
But Live is not just about awards. It also shines for its commitment to creativity, offering world-class shows. Giuseppe Stelitano (UK) amazed the audience with an exquisite avant-garde performance honoring Trevor Sorbie, while international barber A-Rod (USA) delivered a show brimming with personality. Live ambassador Kobi Bokshish (Australia) wowed attendees with his avant-garde creations, blending intricate forms with a brutalist vision of hairdressing. Another ambassador, Mark van Westerop (Netherlands), returned to the Canary Islands for the fourth year in a row, dazzling the audience with his vibrant creations that invite viewers into his imaginative world. To close the event, one of Live’s most seasoned ambassadors, Pavel Okhapkin (Russia), delivered a grand finale with a show full of artistic vision, exquisite detail, and flawless technique.
The educational sessions, particularly praised in this edition, offered a wide array of masterclasses in hairdressing by Israel Alonso (Spain), Lisseth Galarza (Spain), Joel Torres (USA), and Kobi Bokshish (Australia). In barbering, attendees enjoyed the techniques of Alan Beak (UK), along with a special session on Business and Entrepreneurship led by Jay Nouri (USA). At Live, they take pride in delivering the best in education. This year, they collaborated with Booksy to host talks that delved deeper into the world of hairdressing, featuring experts such as Pedro Plastic (UK), Lucas di Oslo (France), and Alba Bosch (Spain). For barbering enthusiasts, the lineup included Mr. Blendking (USA), Brahiam Cubillos (Colombia), and Vicenç Moretó (Spain), who shared their invaluable expertise.
