Color Design’s Total Sensorial Aperol Collection

Drawing their inspiration from the delicious coppery shade of the Aperol, the iconic Italian aperitif that is gaining a new surge in popularity, especially among younger, happy-hour crowds.

The global appeal of Italy and all things Italian is founded on fashion, food, tradition, innovation, and culture – what’s not to love! So Members of the ColorDesign Artistic Team decided to travel to Brescia, Italy for a full immersion experience, counting on being able to find inspiration to create their trend collection for the luxurious Italian hair color brand. And it was not surprising that the team struck not gold – but copper! – most likely during a well-deserved happy hour with glasses of a tangy, fragrant and brightly colored Aperol spritzer.

Thanks to this eureka moment, the ColorDesign team opted to pay homage to the iconic Italian aperitif introduced back in 1919 and more popular than ever today, with a beautiful shade of copper, applied for this new collection using the ColorDesign Shadow Basing and Color Melting Techniques to duplicate the precise shade of Aperol. The perfect blend! Simply refreshing and delish.

Here’s how to get this gorgeous Color Design look:
FORMULA 1 60g 7 volume, 30g Violet Powder Lightener
FORMULA 2 45g 7 volume, 30g 6.4
FORMULA 3 45g 7 volume, 30g 7.4
FORMULA 4 45g 7 volume, 30g 8.4

Step 1 Section the hair into four quadrants, taking a center part from forehead to nape and vertically from ear to ear.

Step 2 Beginning in the back-right quadrant, create a diagonal back parting with a 45-degree angle from behind the ear to the bottom of the center of the nape. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. Begin your next subsection with a horizontal parting that starts directly at the highest point of the previous diagonal back parting behind the ear to create a triangle. Leave no space in between the meeting point of the two partings! Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. Begin your next subsection with a diagonal back parting at a 45-degree angle, starting at the far right of the quadrant above the occipital and ending at the far left of this quadrant, converging at the end of the previous horizontal parting in a zigzag pattern. This creates a second triangle. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. Begin your next subsection with a horizontal parting that starts directly on the highest point of the previous diagonal back parting. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. For the final parting in this section, create a diagonal back parting in the crown that meets with the far left point of the previous horizontal parting. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. There should be a small triangle of hair at the top of this section that will create a veil over these five foils.

Step 3 Working in the back-left quadrant, create a mirror image of the five foils placed on the back-right quadrant. All the points where the foils meet should connect on this side.

Step 4 Beginning in the front right quadrant, create a diagonal back parting with a 45-degree angle just above the ear. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. Begin your next subsection with a horizontal parting that connects with the front of this diagonal back parting. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. Create your next subsection with a diagonal back parting just above the recession area and connecting to the far back point of the previous horizontal parting. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. Continuing in zigzag sectioning, create your next subsection with a horizontal parting connecting to the front of the previous diagonal back parting. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil. For the final subsection, create a diagonal back parting from the center part at the hairline, connecting to the back point of the previous horizontal parting. Take a medium slice on the top of this parting and apply Formula 1 in a foil.

Step 5 Working in the front left quadrant, create a mirror image of the five foils placed on the front right quadrant. The result should be a diamond-shaped veil of untouched hair on the top of the four quadrants. Process until hair has lifted to a level 8. Remove foils and shampoo using ColorDesign Reconstruction Shampoo and Reconstruction Oil for five minutes. Rinse and towel dry.

Step 6 Section the hair in the original four quadrants with a center part from forehead to nape and vertically from ear to ear.

Step 7 Working in diagonal back partings, apply Formula 2 to the first 1/2 inch of hair, using the ColorDesign Shadow Basing Technique. Once you have applied Formula 2 to all four quadrants, use the ColorDesign Color Melting Technique to melt Formula 3 to Zone 2 and Formula 4 to Zone 3. Continue working in diagonal back partings and melting the formulas together where they meet to ensure a seamless blend. Process for 35 minutes. Rinse, shampoo using ColorDesign Reconstruction Shampoo, Reconstruction Oil,and Reconstruction Mask. Rinse and style as desired.
