NYFW How To! Christian Siriano's Jackie-O Chic Waves by Sebastian Professional

Christian Siriano’s Spring 2017 collection is perfect for a getaway on the Isle of Capri. Vintage photos from the late 60s and 70s –particularly Settimio Garritano’s photos of Jackie Onassis’ vacations in Capri from 1969 to 1973– inspired a cool, modern seaside collection fit for a world-traveled woman.

Garritano captured Onassis’ effortless chic and elegant silhouettes. The turquoise waters and citrus orange-stripe umbrella-lined beaches of the Tyrrhenian Sea inspired a bright and bold color palate. In the collection are soft cotton stripes, woven raffia, textured lace, and sheer organza overlays: casual elegance for day and evening.

Anthony Cole, Sebastian Professional International Artist, was inspired by Christian Siriano’s vision and wanted to create a look that was soft and delicate, but with texture to it. “To build off of Christian’s vision of Jackie-O on vacation in Capri, we created a look that had the natural hair pushed back with hair going from straight to wavy to make it look easy, like she just took a braid out of her hair and brushed it back,” says Anthony Cole.

Get the Look!

Step 1: Apply a mix of Sebastian Professional Mousse Forte and Sebastian Professional Dark Oil to damp hair and brush throughout.
Step 2: Part hair down the middle and directional blow dry hair straight back.
Step 3: Using a straightening iron, straighten hair back and hold in place with Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce.
Step 4: Using upper shoulder as a guide, take half inch sections and spray with Sebastian Professional Shine Define.
Step 5: Using a three barrel wave curler, make waves from mid shaft to ends.
Step 6: Run Sebastian Professional Sublimate through hair with your hands to tame flyaways.
Step 6: Finish with Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce.
