Divalicious Waves vs Veronica Lake Re-Take: Get the Golden Globes’ Looks with Joico

Celebrity hairstylists Jonathan Colombini and Castillo Bataille are no strangers to creating head-turning looks for the red carpet. With in-demand clients like Laura Prepon, and Bella Thorn respectively, they know what looks good and for the Golden Globes they reveal two of the best looks and how you can re-create them too!

JENNIFER LOPEZ’S BOUNCY “DIVA-LICIOUS” WAVES
Jennifer Lopez can do no wrong as she graced the red carpet for this year’s Golden Globes. The always stunning yet so relatable “Jenny from the block” opted for loose bouncy waves with a subtle center part and lots of volume. Truly “showing up” on the red carpet with her dazzling look from head to toe!” says Castillo Bataille.

Castillos’s Get-the-Look:
Starting with damp hair add Joico JoiWhip Firm (hold factor of 7) at the roots and comb through the ends. This firm-hold foam will add amazing volume and shine to your blow-out making this hairstyle look fresh and full of body. Blow dry your hair with a round brush section by section, making sure to cool off each strand to lock in the volume. With the back of your rat-tail comb create your center part 1” – 1 1/2” leaving the rest of your hair out.

Now take the two sections on each side and smooth down and back with Joico Crème Wax (hold factor 3). Secure the ends together with an elastic band just above the nape area behind your head. The Joico Crème Wax is great for those stubborn baby hairs that frame your face. Its moisturizing and pliable hold, will secure the hair strands adding texture and control.  With your teasing comb, back comb around the crown of your head. I like to spray then tease using Flip Turn Volumizing Finishing Spray. This spray is fast drying with humidity-resistant hold that is great for creating that “diva-licious” volume that Jennifer Lopez always has. Smooth out the top and finish with a few more sprays to lock in the overall look.

HEIDI KLUM’S VERONICA LAKE RE-TAKE
Side swept-waves were certainly a trend I pin-pointed for this year’s Golden Globes red-carpet and Heidi’s were classic and showed off the shine in her blonde hair,” says Jonathan Colombini.

Jonathan’s Get-the-Look:
With Heidi’s blonde locks I’d definitely start with Joico’s Smooth Cure Shampoo and Conditioner to insure even hydration from root to ends, and keep frizz away! With a barrel curling iron I’d set Heidi’s hair with your basic roller set pattern and use K-PAK Protective Hairspray for protection against the damaging heat tools. Once in set and cooling I’d give a light spray again with K-PAK Protective Spray or you can opt for a flexible working spray like Joico Design Works Shaping Spray. After removing each curl from its set, brush out the curls to then form that finger wave effect. I’d recommend a boar bristle brush to do this with. Find your part and fine-tune the look to desire.

I find to keep this look’s hold and especially during this rainy Globes weekend, a hairspray with a UV protection is more likely to keep frizz down and repel moisture. Joico’s Power Spray, which resists humidity and increases shine, is perfect for this!
