Get Festival Ready Hair with Tom Smith

As festival season approaches, it’s time to get festival ready with show-stopping looks. Tom Smith shares top tips for standout hair.

Get Festival Ready

The festival season is here, and alongside braids, denim shorts, and guaranteed rain, expect to see innovative hair trends. According to evo creative colour director Tom Smith, 2025 festival styles will heavily incorporate hardware and utilitarian accessories. He advises: “Metal, wood and unconventional materials will be added to braids, buns and woven into updos with mixed textures and partial up-dos.” Stylists can therefore truly help clients get festival ready with these exciting new looks.

Inspiring Your Clients for Festival Season

Get Festival Ready Hair

As stylists, you can start preparing now to inspire your clients. Encourage them to book appointments specifically for the upcoming festival season. Suggest incorporating interesting accessories like beads, braids, bands, and fabrics into braided styles and half-updos. Speak to those clients who you know will likely attend social events over the summer. Consider suggesting an exciting add-on style during their upcoming appointment.

Maximising Your Social Reach

Festival hair offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your diverse styling skills on social media platforms. Tom emphasizes: “Make sure to take pictures to share on your socials; capture content of the process and use this effectively to promote your new service option.” He adds: “If you’re feeling inspired, it will be easy to get everyone coming into the salon feeling inspired too! Ask your clients to take content of themselves and their hair at the festival and tag you – repost it and this will generate more interest.”

Tom’s Top Tips for Festival Hair

  1. Less is more. Baby braids around the face, adorned with just a couple of interesting beads, offer a fast, simple, and youthful aesthetic.
  2. Consider asymmetry. Accenting only one side of the hair while leaving the rest as usual keeps the overall look elevated and effortlessly chic, avoiding a ‘try-hard’ impression.
  3. Avoid costume-like elements. Steer clear of backcombing or crimping, which can lean too heavily towards a ‘costume’ appearance. Instead, maintain a beautiful and modern hair texture, relying on strategic braids and twists in key areas to add desired texture.
