Tony Rizzo, founder of the Alternative Hair Charitable Foundation, received the honour of an MBE on 11th June 2025 at Windsor Castle. This was for his outstanding charitable services to leukaemia research and children suffering from blood cancers.
This was a very special day for Tony Rizzo and his family, all of whom dedicated over 40 years to the Alternative Hair Show. In the beautiful setting of Windsor Castle, Tony received the honour from William, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales. William warmly expressed genuine interest in how the show began and how the fight continues today.
“I want to thank everyone who has stood by me through the darkest times,” commented Tony. “Every day brings us closer to finding a cure for this devastating disease; leukaemia and all blood cancers. This is an incredibly proud moment for me. From humble beginnings as an Italian immigrant to receiving this honour, I am deeply grateful and truly humbled.”
The fight continues
Tony also expressed heartfelt thanks to the many people, artists, sponsors, and supporters from across the hair industry who have made the Alternative Hair Show what it is today. With their help, over £15 million has been raised for research and family support initiatives.
