Colour Trends for 2025 – Top Four by Jose Amoros at Myla + Davis

Jose Amoros, Art Director at Myla + Davis, reveals his top four Spring/Summer hair colour trends for 2025:

THINK PINK

Cotton Candy Pink is set to be a surefire treat this SS25 season. Models rocked the runway with pink buzz cuts at Coach, while pink and black striped wigs reigned supreme at Maitrepierre. And while we know this won’t filter down to our core clients, what we do predict is a nod to the trend with some opalescent, watered-down variations. It pivots from AW24’s flamingo pink to a more pearlescent glass-like shine.

Case in point? The punchy pastel hair at Sandy Liang got us fired up and ready for the SS25 season ahead, where watercolours will take centre stage. Peach will also have a moment; think dusty peach tints and barely-there apricot washes with a super reflective high shine. The images above how energetic traditional pastel colours can look when given the high-shine treatment. Perfect for festival season and lighter, brighter days, if you want to really nail this trend, leave the roots natural and colour-free and use creative violet-based toners on pre-lightened locks. Paired with a textured, effortless cut and plenty of attitude, your clients will have their spring/summer season nailed.

COPPER LOAD OF THIS

Rich reds, usually reserved for the autumn/winter months, are standing firm for next season, and if the runways are anything to go by, this season, it’s all about elegance. As seen at Richard Quinn and Issey Miyake, hues were alluring and eye-catching and the perfect accessory for some sun-inspired style. We love creating coppers in our salons. The beauty of this shade is that it can transform any hairstyle. If your clients want some ‘wow’ factor, try a deeper shade than copper but lighter than Auburn.

If they have warmer skin tones, then cinnamon and ruby will suit, while clients with cooler skin tones will suit berry and burgundy. We also have fun creating copper balayages – rich, deep and luxurious colours like this scream luxe and can be tailor-made to suit your client’s needs for some red-hot styling this season. Add a clear toner to add a nail-like top coat to locks, and clients will also be nailing the glass hair trend this season.

SWEET THING

We see you, old money, heritage blondes, and raise you to the sweetest sugary blonde instead. While these incarnations are, of course, timeless and classic, this sweet treat, as seen across the SS25 runways at Grace Ling, Stella McCartney, Coach and Richard Quinn, is sure to be a hit for its ability to enhance clients’ skin tone while keeping them bang on trend with their hair colour, too. This high-shine colour is the perfect luxe addition to your little blonde book, making it a desirable shade. What we love about these hues is that while blondes traditionally sit within a neutral to cool palette, this takes in warmer tones to brighten the hair and complexion for a new season win-win.

To perfect the look, a clay-based balayage bleach is essential for that delicate lift, and a soft blending technique keeps the brightness scattered and sun-kissed. Follow with a toner that complements and enhances the natural warmth of your client’s hair. To help your clients maintain the hue, try the Davines Instant Bonding Glow, a reinforcing extra-shine serum for natural and treated blondes.

MOCHA MOUSSE

Valentino, Chanel, Miu Miu – if Pantone’s colour of the year – Mocha Mousse – was good enough for the models rocking the runways for the fashion big wigs this season, then it’s good enough for us. Another glossy nod to the trend was seen by the sleek, slick models at Victoria Beckham’s SS25 show, where seriously seductive chocolate tones rocked the runways. According to Pantone, these chocolate box shades will be a hit due to our increasing need for comfort next season. So, whether it’s neutral nude shades (beige and taupe), shimmering shades of bronze, or monotone colours closer to your clients’ natural shade, this season’s trend is for warmth, health and shine.

To recreate, multi-dimensional colours with depth and shine are key; glossing is a great way to add richness while maintaining a low-commitment, natural colour. Adding mocha lowlights to blonder hair can work perfectly for your lighter-haired clients, but for those fully invested, mocha highlights on a brunette base help reflect the shine. Face framing pieces also help add depth.
