Miracle Oils – Which Ones Promote Better Hair Health?

There are some natural miracle oils that can treat hair according to the specific problems it’s experiencing. French hair expert and colour addict, Fabrice Parra, explains further.

When it comes to treating hair, there’s no need to look any further. Nature itself is full of miracle oils to restore health and shine to your hair. Fabrice Parra, who has worked for thirteen years for Kydra Le Salon, a professional herbal hair care brand, shares his technical expertise.

Fabrice, what oils do you recommend for…

Dry hair?

It is important to distinguish between two degrees of hair dryness, from the most superficial to the most structural: dehydrated to dry hair and very dry to ultra-dry hair.

  • For dehydrated to dry hair: opt for light oils such as argan, wheat, jojoba or corn. These provide hydration, nutrition and shine without weighing down the hair fibre.
  • For very dry to ultra-dry hair: choose rich, nourishing oils, such as castor, baobab or shea. These are ideal for deep nourishment, strengthening the hair structure and restoring its resistance.

Weakened hair after colouring?

Complexes of pomegranatejasmine and sweet almond oil will care for the hair fibre while protecting the colouring pigments and increasing shine.

Hair loss?

Hair loss is divided into two categories:

  • Seasonal, reactive or occasional hair loss: often linked to factors such as pregnancy, intense stress, emotional shock, a strict diet or taking certain medications. In this case, ginkgo biloba, rosemary and black tulip oils  are ideal because they help to rebalance the duration of the telogen phase (rest) by shortening it. They will also stimulate regrowth.
  • Progressive hair loss: generally caused by hormonal factors (menopause), recurrent fibre traction or genetics. For this problem, favour oils from celery seedslupin or organic maca (ginseng root), which stabilise the hair life cycle, promote microcirculation, balance the scalp and stimulate regrowth.

To tame frizz?

Frizz often corresponds to small broken hairs or hairs in full regrowth. To discipline them and give them back their natural shape, rely on oils such as jojobacamelinacorn or argan. These are particularly effective.

Limiting the effects of chemotherapy?

During chemotherapy, it is crucial to avoid any anti-hair loss treatment. However, it is possible to use oils to soothe the scalp. Jujube bark extractsjojoba or calendula oil for example, have cleansing, moisturising and soothing properties, ideal for calming irritated or inflamed scalps.
