Precision & Edge: Mastering the Craft of Precision Cutting is an educational course recently held by Kasho in conjunction with Brooks and Brooks.
The up-close-and-personal course, Precision & Edge: Mastering the Craft of Precision Cutting, saw Jamie Brooks and Roman Sys from Brooks & Brooks team up with Kasho to discuss the craft of hair cutting, precision cutting and mastering different cutting techniques. The masterclass covered every tool available, from scissors to razors and texturisers.
“We wanted to break down the barriers of cutting hair as well as elevating the craft of hairdressing,” explained Roman. “We demonstrated how to use all the tools that are available to hairdressers and presented different techniques for commercial work as well as a creative, disconnected yet wearable on-trend haircut. Cutting hair doesn’t have to be scary and with the right knowledge and tools you can push the boundaries as far as you want to go.”
Kasho co-director Benjamin Shipman added: “After spending a couple of days at Salon International – where there was an underlying buzz about the need to refocus on foundational craftsmanship – the cutting course at the Brooks & Brooks salon, couldn’t have felt more on point.
As a brand, our focus runs deeper than just selling cutting tools; we aim to elevate the overall level of craftsmanship. Thanks to social media there is a lot of focus on the razzle-dazzle, the hype. Jamie and Roman demonstrated the polar opposite. They focused on the nuts and bolts, the foundation of real craftsmanship.
The golden nuggets of wisdom shared throughout the day went far beyond mastering cutting techniques. The message that kept hitting home was never stop learning, always push yourself, and, of course, the Brooks & Brooks mantra: There is Beauty in Simplicity. It was so refreshing to hear that feeling nervous when you’re levelling up is exactly how you should feel – just don’t let it stop you. Embrace it!
