All-Round Hairdressers with Alex Thaddeus

Although Alex Thaddeus has experience in a lot of different ‘niche’ areas, she doesn’t feel the need to specialise in one area any time soon. She epitomises one of our many All-Round Hairdressers.

It seems like everyone has their niche when you enter the world of hairdressing. Everyone has a skill or talent which they have homed in on for years and perfected to the highest extent. And that’s great, but do you really need to have a niche to do well? Some hairdressers believe that specialising in one particular aspect of hairdressing is the key to success and the best way to bring more clients in, but it doesn’t always have to be like that. Alex Thaddeus from Alex Thaddeus Hairdressing likes to think of herself one of our all-round hairdressers.

Award-Winning Skills

Alex is known for her award-winning colour skills, having competed in national and international competitions, but she also loves all types of hair, from textured looks of all lengths to precision cuts. She has done cutting courses with Sassoon Academy London and Mazella & Partners to name a few. She has experience in a lot of different ‘niche’ areas, but she doesn’t feel the need to specialise in one area any time soon.

“Trying to choose an area to specify in is always hard but that’s the beauty of hairdressing,” comments Alex. “You don’t have to stick to one thing. I love doing colour but to make the whole look come together, the cut is an essential.”

Since the beginning of her career, Alex wanted to be constantly progressing in the hairdressing industry. She promised to herself that she was going to give it her all and not shy away to learning something new every day, soaking up every ounce of knowledge that she was given. Having a niche is a great way to specialise in something that you love, but it’s also important to remember that you don’t need to have a niche to excel in the industry.

Focus on Your Own Journey

Being an all-rounder is completely fine. Alex believes that you need to focus on your own journey and progression, rather than that of your fellow hairdressers. “Not having a niche may feel a bit daunting, but it is okay,” she continues. “I’m an all-rounder who has experience varied skill set. Some hairdressers find their niche almost instantly, and others never find a niche throughout their whole career and that’s okay.”

For many without a niche, they worry that not having one will drive away clients, but in fact, it’s quite the opposite. Alex has a diverse range of clients, so being an all-rounder in her local area brings in business. Being an all-rounder allows you to accept new challenges, expand your horizons, and continue to learn in an industry that’s always growing.
