Oscars 2024: awarding statuettes to the best hairstyles

Last Sunday, the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles hosted the 96th edition of the most acclaimed film awards worldwide, the Oscars 2024, where inspiring hairstyles shone.

We take a look at its red carpet and award the coveted golden statuettes to the most dazzling hairstyles of the Oscars 2024.

EMMA STONE AND THE ‘EAR TUCK’ TREND, GALA PROTAGONISTS

The Oscar winner for Best Actress sported one of the most popular hairstyles of the gala, which will be a trend this season. “Emma has a beautiful copper mane, left loose and finished with soft, voluminous waves. The key to the look is to tuck the two front strands behind the ears, a simple gesture that clears the face, breaks the stiffness of long hair, and gives prominence to makeup, wardrobe, and accessories,” says Adrian Pardo, director of Adrian Pardo Hair Studio.

BILLIE EILISH AND HER HIGH VOLUME MANE

The singer also took home a statuette in the Best Song category, becoming the youngest person to win two Oscars (she’s only 22!). “Billie Eilish has become a style icon, as she demonstrated at the gala. From the ‘deep brunette’ shade, confirming that deep and rich tones will reign this spring, to her butterfly cut with soft layers, perfectly framing her features. And, the cherry on top: the volume at the roots and upper half, adding body and presence to her entire mane,” says Sandro Nonna, hairstylist, makeup artist, and ambassador for L’Oréal Professionnel.

ZENDAYA ONCE AGAIN CAPTIVATES WITH HER RETRO BOB

Zendaya has stolen the spotlight with a new haircut and Old Hollywood style. “She has returned to a shorter length, which suits her face so well. In this case, it’s a long bob, with soft and polished waves, and the ends styled outward. It’s inspired by the classic beauty of Hollywood’s golden years and is a complete success. The side part allows her to play with volumes and add more originality and sophistication to the finish. It’s a comfortable and versatile cut, ideal for wavy and curly bases like her natural one, as it creates spectacular body,” says Conchi Arias, founder of Campos Curlyhair.

HAILEE STEINFELD AND HER FAIL-SAFE ‘CLEAN LOOK’

Although loose waves have dominated the Oscars red carpet, updos have also made their stellar appearance, setting the trends for the season. “Hailee Steinfeld looks fabulous with her ‘clean look’ updo, which involves keeping the hair as sleek and shiny as possible. She opts for a low ballet bun with a side part, creating the perfect frame to enhance her ‘peach’ makeup, an absolute trend for the new season. It’s a romantic, elegant style, and above all, very flattering,” explains Miguel Bling, hairstylist, makeup artist, and director of You Glow Salon.

MARGOT ROBBIE EMBRACES NATURAL VIBES

The lead actress of Barbie showed that contrasts offer fantastic results and that naturalness is more than welcome on the red carpet. “She wears her hair down, with a center part and an ‘undone’ finish, meaning, without being polished. She simply added movement to the front strands and worked a natural and carefree texture into the rest of the mane. To achieve this effect, the hair must be prepared beforehand with a texturizing product. The contrast between the elegance of the dress and the freshness of her hair creates a beautiful juxtaposition,” says María José Llata, director of Llata Carrera Hair Salon.
