Eden: a winning collection by Annie Ankervik

Eden by Annie Ankervik nabbed her the Swedish Hairdresser of the Year Award… and it’s easy to see why!

Annie Ankervik is a Davines International Artist and Swedish hairstylist and her Eden Collection won her the Swedish Hairdresser of the Year Award.

Every hair strand and every stone in the makeup had its place, almost like a uniform,” is how Ankervik explains her vision for these images. “I also put a feather in their ‘headdresses’ to symbolize their bravery. This is because I see them as peaceful warriors.

Simple, raven black hair is perhaps less viable commercially, but in this editorial take it works perfectly. The effect of the simple color palette evokes a chiaro-scuro. The hair is sculpted here in primordial braids, reminiscent of the sinuous serpent in the Garden of Eden. The overall effect is that of a ritual headdress.

The second model’s hair creates a more angular design. Asymmetrical and glossy ribbons of hair are sculpted to outline volume in the back with the crown and bangs are simple and straightforward.

The raven warrior feathers indeed add a sort of baseline in contrast to the softly curved braids and ribbons. Crystals were added to otherwise minimalist make-up to create sparkling facial tattoos.
