Festival season kicks off next weekend with the first festival of the season, Download Festival in Donnington. And with the music and dancing comes festival hair. Matrix Artist Ambassador and founder of The Hair Socials, Simon Townley, says the season gives people an opportunity to have some fun with their hair.
“Festival season is s all about embracing your individuality and expressing yourself through your hair and the clothes you wear,” explains Simon Townley. “For many, it’s the only chance they get to be colourful and crazy away from their corporate jobs. Popular festival hairstyles include braids, neon colours, glitter roots, and bohemian waves. Stylists should be aware of the trends and styles as it’s a great time to upsell products and accessories.”
It’s also the perfect conversation starter about different hairstyles and how to achieve the look,” adds Simon. “By promoting festival hair services and products, salons can attract a younger and more adventurous clientele who are looking to make a statement with their hair. “Show them how to use temporary hair colour and glitter to create fun and eye-catching styles. Remind them that festival hair is all about embracing individual expression and creativity and encourage them to express themselves through their hair.”
Here are Simon’s festival tips for his clients
1 Start with clean, dry hair on the morning of the festival. Start with freshly washed hair with volumizing shampoo and conditioner to give your hair a boost and create a great base for your style. Washing it on the morning you travel means it should last 3-4 days rather than. 4-5 days.
2 Leave hair natural on the first day, then add some texturising spray for a beachy look. A product like Matrix Miracle Creator will add texture, detangle and protect from the sun.
3 Accessories are your festival BFF! Try adding clips, barrettes, and headbands to your look, or incorporate beads and ribbons for a colourful finish.
4 Braiding your hair will keep it in one place and will create an amazing boho texture when you remove them.
