Easter always seems to welcome in a noticeable change in hair trends. It not only marks Spring, but longer evenings. Spring pastels and lighter colours in general give clients and stylists the opportunity to become a little more creative and experimental.
Gone are the days when clients opt for more consumer focussed shades such as a gorgeous honey blonde or mocha brunette. Now, clients are becoming a lot more creative with their colours and adding in colourful tones. This gives their look a much more unique feel and channel their own individuality through their hair. However, the evolution of the blonde is very much apparent and for Easter 2023, there are countless Spring pastel shades to choose from.
Subtle peach
Peach blondes are one of my favourite spring hair trends, particularly for blondes who want to update their look for the new season. Adding a subtle peach tint on blonde hair will instantly add warmth and a glow to the complexion whilst also giving the hair a super fresh and on trend look for the season.
The great thing about this hair colour is that it can be adapted to suit the client – it can be made bolder if they want more of a statement look, or super subtle they want something not so noticeable and that will quickly wash out. The softness of this colour is particularly flattering on those with fair skin tones. I love pairing this shade with a sleek, straight blunt bob to really enhance the colour and show off the beautiful shine it gives to the hair. A kiss of sunshine
During the autumn/winter months we see blondes going a lot cooler and clients opting for ashier/silver/platinum shades. For spring/summer 2023, I love that we are starting to see blondes going warmer, opting for beige, golden and honey like shades, perfect for the season and giving the hair added radiance.
We will see blondes being warmer and more yellow toned, which can make the hair look expensive when done correctly. This shade also looks great on brunettes being incorporated into balayage and freehand colour techniques to give the hair a sun kissed like finish for the spring/summer season, as well as dimension, depth and shine. For me, this is such a fun spring hair colour for clients to choose from. Shades of pink and purple come back year after year and it’s great to see these more high-fashion, unique hues trending, which are great for clients who like to be more experimental. Nothing too wild!
As spring comes into effect, the lighter, brighter and much more fun colours come into play. We go through a variety of extremes, going from gorgeous, subtle pastels to vibrant, vivid tones. Spring is all about colour and as a colourist the creative vibes are definitely here for 2023. Think a soft barbie or candy floss pink and for those clients who want something a bit more out there, the beautiful viva magenta. Caramel balayage
Spring – where everything goes lighter and brighter, and I am all for it! We are really seeing an evolution in the colour world, which has been heavily influenced by the Pantone colour of the year. We are seeing a lot of deep pinks and reds, with plum colours also making an appearance as we transition from Winter. For those who like something a little softer, caramel balayage will be a huge trend towards spring, with strawberry blonde being the must have blonde global colour of the year – think soft and simple. Barbie is back!
2023 is already in the midst of new trends and new colours and it’s great to see clients becoming more open and much more creative when it comes to their hair. For the blondes out there, ‘barbie’ blonde is back – think Californian inspired with lots of lighter tones. A creamy persona, the blonde will be made up of 2/3 shades, with light reflecting and giving off the most beautiful shades. All about blondes
Easter for me is all about the blondes. ‘Cream’ is the trend for SS. Soft, creamy blondes with multi blend shades will be the trend throughout the next 12 months – high shine with lots of gorgeous light reflections. I see a shift coming with colourists using more high lift shades and level 9/10 shades. For those looking to be a bit more creative with this look, adding a soft pink or shade of magenta to the hair will completely transform this look into a head turner. Lilac & Lavender
Purple tones of lilac and lavender are one of the biggest pastel hair trends this season. These shades are great, as not only do they look great on blondes adding a fun look to the hair without being too ‘out there’, but they also work well on brunettes, adding a gorgeous sheen to the hair. I particularly love using lilac and lavender tones on the ends of the hair or via a dip dye affect to give the hair a unique look and more contemporary feel. Dip dye, gradients and ombre like affects will be a huge trend as we go through spring and into summer, in both fashion and hair, and paired with a short, cropped cut, are a great way to give clients a quirky ‘cool girl’ style for the season.
