Let’s Talk Texture at Hair & Vision

The Fellowship for British Hairdressing’s first event for 2023 got off to a fantastic start at Aspire, Leeds. Hair & Vision presented Let’s Talk Texture, sponsored by Avlon & Uberliss. It brought an exciting subject to a packed audience eager to learn about Afro and Textured hair.

Fellowship President, Robert Eaton welcomed the audience to the northern city and brought the team on stage. Heading up the Let’s Talk Texture presentation were Jacqui McIntosh with stylists Brandon Messinger and Anthony Grant. They demonstrated contemporary looks on opposing textures of hair. Whilst the demonstration was continuing, Jacqui discussed the different textures of hair, the importance of understanding pH when relaxing, straightening or colouring hair and took questions from the floor.

Brandon created a short-textured cut featuring pastel colours. Anthony’s work was diverse showcasing natural curls as well as a look favoured by celebrities: Bubble Braid.  Next on stage was colour expert Claire Chell. She presented two beautifully coloured and styled models with a variation of soft muted tones that are extremely wearable. Claire was joined by Lathaniel Chambers who presented two models with opposing textures. His first model had straightened and coloured hair. He dressed it to show the tones ranging from orange at the roots to pale lavender on the ends. His second model brought the audience to their feet to see exactly how he created the knots which shaped her stunning look.

After the model presentation Avlon General Manager Graham Oakes also took to the stage to thank the team, the models and the audience and hoped this was the first of many collaborations between the brand and the Fellowship.  “What a great evening,” added Robert. “To see so many people in Leeds tonight was fantastic and to be able to introduce textured hair in all forms to them was inspirational. The feedback from the audience has been fantastic and I’d like to thank Jacqui, Graham and also the team for their support.”

The next Fellowship Hair & Vision is on 28th March at the Hunter Collective, London. Tickets available from www.fellowshiphair.com
