- First, I began by washing Tayshia’s hair with Matrix Instacure Shampoo and Conditioner. This anti-breakage duo helps repair hair strength to reduce breakage in dry, brittle, and damaged hair.
- Next, I towel dried her hair and used the Instacure Anti-Breakage Porosity Spray in order to protect and repair the hair from previous heat damage. Then, I blew out her hair using a round boar bristle brush.
- Then, excluding the hair line and in small sections, I used a ½” curling iron and wrapped the hair around the barrel alternating the direction of the wave as I worked my way down the hair. This technique is what gives the wave a more natural appearance. I continued this method all the way through.
- When I get to the front of the hair, I “emulsified” using Matrix Over Achiever 3-In-1 Cream Paste and Wax in my hands until the product achieves a stiff consistency. Then, I apply this to her wavy hairline and follow with the hot edge comb to completely straighten out her edges. This product gives the hairline hold and weight to straighten out her wavy baby hairs.
- Then I continued to curl the face-framing sections until all of the hair was completely curled.
- Next, I took Matrix A Curl Can Dream Lightweight Oil and ran this through the hair from the roots to the ends, separating the curls. This gives the hair a slightly wet look and natural feeling.
- I followed this with Matrix Miss Mess Dry Finishing Spray which gives her hair more volume and “piece-y-ness”.
- To finish, I had her flip over her hair, and I used Matrix Vavoom Freezing Extra Full Spray towards the root, throughout the mid-lengths and ends the give her the maximum volume.
