Hairstylist Lona Vigi used the René Furterer Style collection and L’Oréal Professionnel tools on Reese Witherspoon at the SAG Awards on Sunday, February 27.
Lona Vigi shares her inspiration for Reese Witherspoon look, along with how she achieved it on her, using René Furterer products and L’Oréal Professionnel Steampod Flat Iron & Styler.
“My overall inspiration for the look came from conversations with Reese Witherspoon, and the whole glam team. Collaborative and creative – that’s always the most fun way to get people ready! Reese’s look tonight has an old Hollywood feel, but still completely modern, and total movie star hair.“

“Then, I sectioned the hair off with clips and started from the front of the hair by her face, to really lock in the shape. I applied the René Furterer STYLE Holding Gel to the front pieces only, and secured the hair with flat clips to really drive home the dramatic wave shape. Once that area was dry, I went over the face framing pieces with the René Furterer STYLE Finishing Spray to set the style.“
“I started from the bottom, drying sections with a medium round brush and worked my way upwards. Once her hair was fully dry, we took it down and assessed just how exactly we wanted it to appear. We began with a deeper side part in her hair, and then switched it up for more drama, which ties back to the origins and inspiration of the hairstyle. There are many ways to dress up the hair when wearing it down, which is a great way to add a little more, when you’re not wearing your hair in an up-do.“
“From there, I went piece by piece with L’Oréal Professionnel Steampod Flat Iron & Styler. I was mesmerized, and very impressed – this product can truly do it all! I started by holding the iron in a vertical position, starting at one side, and working my way to the other, wrapping the hair through the iron, and creating the shape I wanted with wrist movements, then letting it cool. It added a sheen of extra gloss to the hair, and made it look healthier. While this is a heated tool, the steam causes way less damage to the hair which I love, and also allowed for zero frizz. The size of the plates on the iron was also great for a more technical style.“
“Once the hair had its waves and was down, I brushed the sectioned pieces together, focusing on the shape for a sexy, refined, modern, and Old Hollywood look. I would recommend a comb or boar bristle brush to create texture, and lock in the waves. I then went from roots to ends with the René Furterer STYLE Finishing Spray to lock-in the style, and re-glided a boar bristle brush delicately over the hair to finalize the look.”
