“When it comes to hair loss we need to first look at scalp health. You can tell a lot from the hair health and hair loss issues from the scalp. That’s why care is so important and there’s a few things you should be looking out for.” Krysia West, Owner of Postiche Academy and Perfectly Posh Hair.

“In order to maintain scalp health, it’s crucial to treat it with care through regular exfoliation and the use of the right products,” explains Krysia “Our scalps can be affected by factors including pollution, free radicals and other environmental aggressors. To combat this and protect the scalp I recommend using the Aveda Pramasana Protective Scalp Concentrate and Purifying Scalp Cleanser. These products work to balance the sebum levels of the scalp and maintain purity at the root of the hair. Not only do they work to protect the layers of the scalp, they also nourish and purify the scalp with plant derived agents like Babassu and exfoliants to help remove any build of pollution and those free radicals.

“When it comes to caring for your scalp, look out for ingredients like seaweed extract that can help control and balance sebum levels as well as Tamanu oil which is a known antioxidant which helps protect the scalp from aggressors like pollution and free radicals. It also helps nourish and sooth the scalp all day. These are always my 2 go to products for a healthy, clean and invigorated scalp.

“It’s often tempting for clients to think they need to stop washing their hair as much when dealing with scalp issues, but it’s actually the opposite. Of course we don’t recommend clients wash their hair ever day but regular cleansing can help ease scalp issues. Sebum, oil and dirt builds up along with product on the scalp and with regular cleansing you can avoid this becoming too much and keep the area fresh.
“Like with skin and hair, it’s vital not to be too harsh. Don’t overwork the product into the scalp and advise your clients to be gentle at home too.”
