Intercoiffure Mondial, the Paris-based elite hairdressers’ organization, has elected Peter F. Pfister (Austria) as the new President, with immediate effect.
Intercoiffure Mondial, which brings together some 2,000 of the best hairdressers in the industry from 42 countries with around 50,000 employees, has a new President. Peter F. Pfister (59) comes from Austria; on 13 September 2021 the Intercoiffure Mondial General Assembly elected him its new President. Peter F. Pfister replaces Klaus Peter Ochs, who is stepping down after over 21 successful years at the helm of Intercoiffure Mondial, with immediate effect.
Peter F. Pfister aims to launch into his role with a passion for the art of hairdressing, an unswerving commitment to providing quality hair salon services, a real awareness of trends and a vision for future developments in the sector. Following his election, Intercoiffure Mondial’s new President said: “When the world’s leading hairdressers come together in a single organization, their cooperation and combined international flair is priceless. Each individual Intercoiffure salon and all its employees reap the rewards. Customers also benefit from Intercoiffure Mondial as a sure sign of quality. I’m doing all I can to make Intercoiffure a quality mark that guarantees skill, craft and top quality.”
Originally from Austria’s Zillertal, Pfister has spent over 35 years committed to this well-respected hairdressing organization, first established in 1925. Peter F. Pfister saw his election to Intercoiffure Mondial World President as recognition of his wide-ranging past commitments to Intercoiffure: he was President of Intercoiffure Austria from 2004 to 2019. From 2007 onwards, hairdressing entrepreneur Pfister acted both as the Regional President for Western Europe and a Central Committee member. In 2010 Pfister was responsible for organizing the European Congress in Salzburg and acted as a Coordinator for the European Region. In 2015 he won the Globe Educator Award, and was elected Chairman of the Intercoiffure Mondial World Academy. Indeed, education and training are close to the new President’s heart. The organization’s international training program will undergo further ambitious development under Pfister’s leadership, adding innovative features such as video tutorials and interactive feedback so it keeps pace with the digital age. The program will focus in particular on fostering talent and working with the younger generation of hairdressers.
Peter F. Pfister also plans to emphasise trend-related skills within Intercoiffure Mondial, possibly working with fashion designers and industry figures. In the early 1980s, Pfister worked on haute couture fashion shows in the capital of fashion, alongside star hairdresser and Intercoiffure Mondial President Alexandre de Paris. He got to know fashion designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Emanuel Ungaro, Yves Saint Laurent and Jean Patou by doing their models’ hair for the big shows. As Intercoiffure Mondial President, he aims to increase creative exchange and sharing inspiration, to achieve new communication formats and to establish strong partnerships.
Peter F. Pfister, Intercoiffure Mondial President, explains: “We’re living in turbulent times, full of new developments and challenges. As in other areas of life, if hairdressing is to be fit for the future, then it’s vital that we seize the opportunities which change presents, combining the tried and tested with the new.”
Several other official roles were up for election at Intercoiffure Mondial’s General Assembly. Eizo Kakimoto has stepped down as Vice President, although he is still President of Intercoiffure Asia Region. The following members of Intercoiffure were voted in to join Peter F. Pfister’s new team.
