The Wella Professionals TrendVision Award Finalists for 2021 have been announced. As one of the most exciting and prestigious industry competitions, its format has continued to evolve and this year the celebrations are set to be truly memorable.
TrendVision is one of the most iconic industry competitions. It not only boosts team morale and motivates competitors, but it also offers tremendous PR possibilities for salons and freelancers alike; a huge opportunity for this year’s TrendVision Award Finalists.
2021 has also welcomed three completely new categories to the competition, all of which were entered on Instagram. The Natural Texture Artist category celebrates and embraces natural hair texture. In addition, Wella’s student competition, Xposure, which has an incredible 20 year heritage, has now joined the TrendVision Award 2021 competition. There are two Xposure categories, Creative Colour and Colour the Cut.
The lucky finalists had already made it through the initial first photographic stage of the competition. They then competed at the UK & Ireland Digital Semi Finals. This involved submitting before and after looks. They also recorded a short video explaining the technique, inspiration, application, and inspiration behind their looks. Special provisions were also made for the student calendar, allowing the Xposure photographic stage winners to go straight through to the UK and Ireland Final in October.
One of the most unique elements of the TrendVision Award is the level of mentoring that’s also offered to competitors throughout their journey. “This is a great opportunity to grow your skills along the way,” said Colin McAndrew, Medusa, Edinburgh. “There’s been an incredible schedule of videos available showing the TrendVision inspired looks, which are still available on education.wella.com.”
2021’s competition has been especially dynamic by adapting to the restraints of Covid-19, with virtual winners announcements and plenty of inspirational streamed content alongside it.

What’s next for the finalists?
The next stage is the UK & Ireland TrendVision Award 2021 Grand Final, which will take place at its traditional home – London’s iconic Roundhouse. Finalists can also expect an industry gathering that will bring the best of UK & Ireland’s hairdressing together in a truly momentous event. A celebrity host will join Wella’s legendry artist, Patrick Cameron. He will host the evening’s celebrations as well as some incredible exclusive hair shows by some of Wella’s leading artists.
Wella Professionals UK and Ireland technical director Robert Eaton says: “TrendVision is one of the annual highlights in the hairdressing calendar. It is the most incredible platform, not only to enter, but to perform at. It is a competition with great history that has been part of the Russell Eaton brand for many years. I am very much looking forward to heading back to the Roundhouse this year.”
There’s no doubt that the hairdressing industry is looking forward to being together once again. This will be the perfect event to celebrate our amazing talents in style. “We are incredibly excited about being back together again for the UK & Ireland Final. This is going to be a night to remember. We wish all the finalists the best of luck,” said Jerome Toulza, Wella’s Go-To-Market Operations Director.
