The Power of Symbolism: Pandora is created with reference to the legendary myth of Pandora’s box.
Curiosity led Pandora to open a container left in care of her husband, thus releasing physical and emotional curses upon mankind. In doing so, Pandora frees the evils of humanity and retains only the hope symbolised by the opulence of flowers.
InThe Power of Symbolism: Pandora there is also a subtle reference to the Covid pandemic – as a contemporary symbol of the ailments and diseases scattered around the Earth. Here they are in the form of the Plague Doctors’ mask. Finally, Athena brings Pandora to life and also dresses her in flowers.
