Pricing is a big conversation in the hairdressing industry and no more so than for salons providing premium extensions services. That’s why Great Lengths are making this hot topic the focus of their next Coffee Talk session, with special guest James Henderson. JamesHenderson is a Great Lengths certified stylist, the owner of M Hair in Nottingham and is Great Lengths Global Charity Ambassador for The Little Princess Trust; the charity which provides real-hair wigs for children with medical hair loss. As the next Coffee Talk special guest, he will be sharing his advice, anecdotes and tried-and-tested techniques for making hair extensions an integral part of your salon business strategy.
Great Lengths have hosted two Coffee Talk seminars since launching the concept, providing expert insight into all aspects of running a successful business. Previous topics covered include successful salon marketing and growing your business outside of a city centre location.
Coffee Talk sessions are free to join and are available for any hairdresser to sign up. To register for James’ session on Monday 21st June please CLICK HERE
In the meantime, here are some of James’ top tips:
1.Know Your Overheads
This is crucial for introducing any service into your salon. Knowing your overhead costs will help you decide the overhead rate on the price of your hair services: the smaller the overhead rate, the bigger the net income will be.
2.Know Your Market
As a business owner, it’s really important to understand your market. Research your competitors, speak to your clients about what price they are willing to pay for your services and understand how best to market your salon for your target audience: is it word of mouth, social media, printed advertising – or a mix?
3.Know Your Worth
This one is vital. If the past year has taught us anything, it’s that hair is best left to the experts! The love and appreciation we have felt since reopening has been overwhelming and it’s clear that clients now recognise more than ever the high level of skill required to create professional looking hair – and how important it is for their wellbeing. We should never be afraid to charge for our expertise.
