Haircuts4Homeless Restart on 14th April

Thanks to the loosening of lockdown restrictions on the hair industry, Haircuts4Homeless is starting up again tomorrow –  14th April  –  Whitechapel Mission in East London,  as well as at 15 other projects which are reopening across the UK over the next two weeks.

Throughout lockdown Haircuts4Homeless started their podcast SEE HERE  by founder Stewart Roberts who has spent the last six years building up the charity from a single session in Essex to 65 projects across the UK and Ireland, with over 600 volunteers and over 40,000 haircuts given so far. In that time, he has met so many wonderful people with amazing stories that deserve to be told – hence the brilliant podcast. From the homeless people to the volunteers, the people who work in the homeless centres and their ambassador and Game of Thrones Star Lena Headey and many more are interviewed on the podcast, giving them a voice and helping them from feeling invisible.

 Why is Haircuts4Homeless so important?

Homeless people have many challenges to face, one of them often being a low self-esteem. A haircut can have a great effect on someone, giving them a real boost (especially after lockdown). It’s often way down on a homeless persons priorities with what lack of money so the service proves to be very popular.  One of people’s basic rights is to feel good about ourselves, and this service can give this to people and bring a smile back to their lips.
