The very first Nordic Hair Awards and Expo held a fabulous event in Copenhagen (Denmark) where more than 2,000 hair pros networked, connected and inspired each other.
Nordic Hair Awards’ first edition presented a fabulous live competition where 47 finalists from all the Nordic countries took part in nine different categories. Winners were announced at a crowded award ceremony at Lokomotivværkstedet in Copenhagen. The biggest winner was Finland who received a total four awards! Meet the winners:
- Nordic Hairdresser of the Year – Harri Akerberg (Finland)
- Nordic Women’s Hairdresser of the Year – Aki-Matti Kallio (Finland)
- Nordic Men’s Hairdresser of the Year – Johan Kristensen (Sweden)
- Nordic Avant-Garde Hairdresser of the Year – Harri Akerberg (Finland)
- Nordic Editorial Stylist of the Year – Linda Lehto (Finland)
- Nordic Colour Technician of the Year – Sofie Heidenberg (Sweden)
- Nordic Young Talent of the Year – Martina Rawet (Norway)
- Nordic Salon Design of the Year – Park Styling / Hair Construction Academy (Denmark)
- Icelandic Hairdresser of the Year – Katrin Sif Jónsdóttir
By winning Nordic Hairdresser of the Year, it was announced that Harri Akerberg also won a pre-nomination to compete for the International Hairdresser of the Year title in the forthcoming International Hairdressing Awards 2020 in Madrid (Spain).
The Nordic Hair Awards jury consisted of highly recognised Nordic hairdressers and international people associated with the hairdressing industry, including Mark Martens-Anderson and Line Bomholt (Denmark), Joakim Ross and Annie Ankervik (Sweden), Ara Koivula and Marja Sillanpää (Finland), Jason Dyer and Berit Olimb (Norway), and Sergi Bancells, International Editorial Director at Estetica Magazine (International Judge).
On top of the awards, this one-day event was packed with 11 hair shows on Main Stage, 4 intimate shows on Live Stage, and several mini shows all around the venue. Main Stage shows included HeadBrands, L’Oréal Professionnel x Björn Axén, American Crew, Aveda Artistic Team, Intercoiffure, Joakim Roos and Linda Schuster, Creademic and Cutrin, just to name a few. At the expo, more than 80 suppliers from the Nordic hair industry presented their latest products and techniques on the floor. Meanwhile, the Live Stage featured awe-inspiring presentations by Revlon Professional, Alterna, American Crew, Kevin Murphy, Schwarzkopf Professional and many more.
The setting for the very first Nordic Hair Awards and Expo was the 10.000 sqm big and rustic facilities of the impressive Lokomotivværkstedet, an old train workshop close to the bohemian Vesterbro in Copenhagen. Apart from enjoying the shows, the visitors had the opportunity to engage with the +80 exhibitors in the Expo-area and follow the exciting live-competitions and Barber Battles. During the night, the host Benjamin Martin led us through an incredible award show with entertainment, award ceremonies, cup-food dinner, live-music and party.
Through the establishment of Nordic Hair Awards and Expo, Hair Magazine wants to cherish the hairdressing profession and raise the level for the Nordic hair fashion in the world, with the international support of Estetica Magazine.
