The Alès family, the members of the Alès Group Supervisory Board and the Executive Board are deeply saddened to announce the death of Patrick Alès, a great Parisian hairdresser and founder of the Alès Group, who passed away at the age of 88.
From Catherine Deneuve to Jackie Kennedy, Patrick Alès styled the hair of the most famous icons and was a pioneer in the creation of innovative plant-based hair care products.
In 1969, he founded Phytosolba Laboratories, specialized in hair products known as PHYTO, and then expanded its activity to include dermocosmetics with the acquisition, ten years later, of Lierac Laboratories, which he transformed into a world-famous brand. After nearly 50 years at the helm of the Group, in 2015 Patrick Alès decided to retire from operational management, remaining Chairman of the Supervisory Board until 2018, when he entrusted the role to his son Romain.
His life, and the development of his company, were shaped by passions, convictions and encounters. As visionary as he was groundbreaking, Patrick Alès’ sole motto was “making women more beautiful”.
Romain Alès, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, reacted to his father’s death with these words: “Throughout his life, my father shared with us his passions, his love of plants, his vision and his curiosity. 50 years after the creation of PHYTO, he built the Alès Group into a company whose brands are now recognized throughout the world. His death plunges our family and all those who were close to him into deep sadness.”
