Hong Kong welcomes the First Hair & Styling Arts Festival

Organized and executed by Asia Hair Masters Association (AHMA), 2018 Hong Kong Hair & Styling Arts Festival was a great success

On November 14-15, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre was the venue for the debut of the Hair & Styling Arts Festival, funded by SME Development Fund of Trade and Industry Department. The 2-day event brimming with hair contest, awards ceremony and industrial summit attracted hundreds of top young hairdressers from Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Indonesia to compete in the 6 categories focusing on imagination and creativity. More than 2,000 people attended the award ceremony and hair show.

Barbering also drew big crowds, thanks to performances by CYRUS, EASON, JACKY, MANSON, MING and RUBEN from the Netherlands, who took the lead in bringing new trends of Barbers to the audience. In ON STAGE, the interpretation of “root. New” brought by AHMA Malaysia featured local creations from traditional hairstyles to modern and up-to-date creations. A host of other top-notch platform artist and salon teams also performed.

On November 15th, the last hair show was performed in ON STAGE. Mr. Gary Woo, the honorary president of AHMA and the principle of Debut Hair Academy, brought a hairdressing cut and color feast to the audience and salon professionals present.

Yet another highlight of the event was the AHMA Hair and Salon Management International Forum which focuses on various issues the industry is facing today with a view to helping salon owners decide how to future-proof their business. The panel was comprised of the founder of Sanrizz Academy and alternative hair show Mr. Tony Rizzo (UK), the founder of SPC and Board chairperson Mr. Yokoyama Yoshiki , representative of Juno Hair Academy Ms. Park Jin Hyun, and founder of DISCONNECT Mr. Philip George, and Ms. Dai Mei Ying of AHMA TAIWAN chairman. The forum also took a look at the education of younger generations.
