Candy Shaw, Intercoiffure America/Canada’s 2017 ‘Educator of the Year’ and the founder of Sunlights Balayage —the maker and purveyor of the world’s leading balayage products and education— will be headlining Australia’s Hair Expo 2018, the largest hair show in the Southern Hemisphere, in Melbourne, June 9-11.
Fondly referred to as ‘The Balay Lama’®, Shaw is widely regarded as North America’s foremost authority on balayage education and is credited with starting the U.S.’s ‘Balayage Revolution!’
“This a dream come true for me,” states Candy, who’s always wanted to visit Australia and share her balayage tips, trick, tools & techniques with its hairdressing community. “I’ve always been impressed with the high caliber of work coming from ‘down under’,” says Shaw.
Wife, mother of three, salon & academy owner, 35-year behind-the-chair hairdresser and now manufacturer, Shaw founded Sunlights Balayage in 2014 to help hairdressers everywhere (who are 85% women in N.A.), ‘earn a better living and live a better life’. Candy’s no-nonsense teaching methods and fast, efficient and consumer-friendly techniques are what led to Shaw being crowned one of America’s top educators.
Sharon Blain, four time Australian ‘Educator of the Year’, explains: “On first meeting Candy Shaw, you’re instantly drawn to her passion and love of our craft. It runs deep in her veins. The Australian hair industry is about to take on a journey like no other when Candy appears at Hair Expo in June. She’s the real deal, witty, clever, a brilliant stylist, a dear friend but most of all down to earth. She speaks from the heart. Take your hair painting to new heights. Her class is a must, it will be the best money you ever spend…!”
Shaw will be presenting live on the Main Stage and teaching a combination of Look’n Learns and intimate Hands-On balayage workshops. Candy will also be a presenter at the annual Hair Expo Awards Gala.
Co-headlining HE is Angelo Seminara, 4-time ‘British Hairdresser of the Year’ and creative director for Davines. “It’s both an honor and a privilege to be sharing the spotlight with Angelo Seminara,” says Candy. “He’s one of the most talented artists in hairdressing today!” Australian hairdresser Tabatha Coffey, star of TV’s ‘Tabatha Takes Over’, will also appear at HE.
Sunlights Professionel Balayage Lightener, THE BALAY BOX & THE BALAY BOX 2.0—’the complete basic and advanced balayage classes in a box’, are distributed in Australia & New Zealand by Dateline Imports.
