It’s called Palm Painting, a new coloring technique that gives hair golden highlights and lightens subtly. Hair is shinier with delicate shades and highlights with a nuance of a lighter tone compared to its natural base, for a “sun-kissed effect”.
A color technique that gives a naturally chic look on long and mid-length hair, Palm Painting is very similar to balayage, but unlike the latter, the color is distributed evenly along the entire length of the hair, without ever reaching the roots, using only your hands, and never tools like sheets, foils, or brushes.
By delicately massaging the strands with palms and fingertips, the color is then absorbed by the hair very gently, thereby obtaining brilliance and natural-looking color without weighing down hair or weakening the scalp. Indeed, this technique is recommended for women who have very delicate hair.
Palm Painting was perfected by Marcos Verissimo, a senior colourist at Neville Hair and Beauty in London, who reveals that the ideal base for Palm Painting is blond or brown hair with a mid-length to long cut.
Originally spread throughout America by icons like Gisele Bundchen and Jessica Alba, this color trend has taken Instagram by storm and become one of the most frequently requested coloring services of the moment in Europe.
