One of the strongest collaborations in the celebration of the industry is Farouk’s momentous involvement in the world of Miss Universe. Pageantry is a celebration of beauty and Miss Universe is the global epitome confident women who pride themselves in representing their country’s culture!
Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters, 22, who represented South Africa, won the Miss Universe crown this weekend and was crowned at The AXIS theater at Planet Hollywood casino-resort on the Las Vegas Strip!
Ninety-two women from around the world participated in the decades-old competition, with the runner-up, Miss Colombia Laura Gonzalez, while the second runner-up was Miss Jamaica Davina Bennett, who was styled in an afro, a monumental choice for representation of the exquisite elegance in natural textured hair.
It took eighteen highly skilled Farouk Systems Global Artists took care of the girls’ looks like, Sara Moreno, Tammy Mixon, Leonel Rodriguez, Julian Macias, Mego Ayvazian, who won International Artist of the Year Award, and of course Global Artistic Director, Patrick Kalle.
CHI and Biosilk were used throughout the competition to style all 92 girls in the span of two weeks that the competition lasted. President of Innovation, Lisa Marie Garcia, shared with Estetica that one of the latest products and tools being used throughout the pageant is the new CHI Lava technology announced in Farouk’s Cancun Conference as one of the most driven innovations in hairstyling.
Sourced from some of the most effective heat conducting materials found on earth; volcanic lava combined with the power of CHI ceramic creates smooth, sleek results without the damaging effects of high-heat styling. Farouk provides their team of hairstylists to help the contestants with their preliminary competitions, dress rehearsals and the live broadcast. “Our relationship with Miss USA, Miss Teen, and Miss Universe dates back 15-16 years ago,” says Farouk Shami. “From the impressive list of judges to the inspiring stories of many of the contestants, these are young women striving to reach their goals and to make an impact on the world. Each one of their stories can inspire and uplift all of us to achieve great things.”
Also present was Miss Teen USA, Sophia Dominguez-Heithoff from Missouri, a charming seventeen-year-old young woman who shared the experience of her first iron, which is a fascinating testament to the influence of CHI across generations. CHI has become an essential part of any stylist toolkit, and consumers have, through the years, referred to these experts for reference in their own styling utilizing these amazing tools.
“I remember that I would just refer to it as my CHI, it wasn’t a straightener to me, it was my first CHI,” says Sophia. “I even remember buying it with red crystals on Black Friday and it was such a huge moment!”
This year’s Miss Universe edition had the most contestants ever, with the widest variety of cultural backgrounds, demonstrating that CHI is truly for every woman, regardless of hair texture, background or roots. This edition of Miss Universe included the first representatives in its history of Cambodia, Laos and Nepal!
