Oribe Hair Care has quickly become one of the main leaders in men’s grooming and haircare with 12 shows under their belt in NYFW Men’s Day Spring/Summer 2018. This is monumental in terms of the direction in men’s fashion and, of course, we get the scoop directly from the masterminds collaborating with designers themselves!
This event is the forecast for all the looks for the year to come. We grabbed our favorite six of the dozen and want to share the direction of the trendiest looks of 2018 for men:
Heliot Emil S/S 2018 Hair by Christian Ceja-Compin using Oribe Hair Care
Danish designer, Julian Juul, of the brand Heliot Emil showcased military-inspired street wear designs in his Spring/Summer 2018 presentation. In his collection titled, “PTCS” (Post Traumatic Combat Stress), Julian fuses army-influenced outerwear with modern cuts and colors. Oribe Educator Christian Ceja-Compin completed the looks with seemingly wet hair separated by off-center middle parts.
Daniel Hechter S/S 2018 Hair by Davide Marinelli using Oribe Hair Care
Timeless French brand, Daniel Hechter, gave their classic designs a tech-inspired update. The brand’s inspiration behind this collection was “nature meets technology,” and they stayed true to this theme by using a neutral color palette to contrast the sleek, modern fabrics and silhouettes. Oribe Educator Davide Marinelli complemented the youthful presentation with relaxed, natural hair that captures the undone vibes of television breakout shows Silicon Valley and Stranger Things.
David Hart S/S 2018 Hair by Kien Hoang using Oribe Hair Care
David Hart took his audience on a “Holiday in Cuba” during his Spring/Summer 2018 presentation. Cuban cigars and straw Panama hats complemented the bold colors and tropical-patterned designs. Oribe Educator Kien Hoang paid homage to brand namesake, Oribe Canales, a Cuban native, while styling the colorfully clad models. Kien opted for effortless, relaxed texture with randomly placed spit curls throughout to bring the Cuban vacation atmosphere front and center.
Head of State S/S 2018 Hair by Nathan Nguyen using Oribe Hair Care
Head of State designer, Taofeek Abijako, drew inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2018 collection from West African youth culture and the work of African contemporary photographers, such as Malick Sidebé and Seydou Keïta. The post-colonialism era also influenced the collection’s tailored and colorful designs. Oribe Educator Nathan Nguyen achieved a vintage-meets-modern matte look complete with elements of abstract architecture.
Wood House S/S 2018 Hair by Nathan Nguyen using Oribe Hair Care
Inspired by adolescence and youth, Wood House designer, Julian Woodhouse, appropriately named his colorful, sports-themed collection “Field Day.” The aptly titled clothing compilation reflects the importance of taking things lightly, and Oribe Educator Dan Nguyen offset the bold designs with simple, shaved hairstyles, which he coated with Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray.
Maiden Noir S/S 2018 Hair by Mandee Hernandez using Oribe Hair Care
Maiden Noir designer, Nin Truong, pulled inspiration for his Spring/Summer 2018 collection from British artist, David Hockney’s work after he moved to the U.S. at the time of The Vietnam War protests. Nin’s designs showcase a contrast between bright, 1960s-style clothes and darker, military-inspired pieces. Oribe Educator Mandee Hernandez styled hair in relaxed, long waves to complement the more colorful clothing. For those models who donned utilitarian pieces, Mandee went with a more structured look.
