The 2017 TIGI Collection: SHIFT, shows a changing mood in hairdressing and colouring, embracing natural texture and creating personalized, distinctive styles. Eight new cuts and colors have been created to inspire the creation of forward-thinking looks for the contemporary client.
“We exist in a world of fast-changing attitudes and uncertainty and our lives have become ‘of the moment’, shared through social media platforms where the aim is to be continually ‘picture perfect’. This change in our self perception has resulted in a new vision for hair, giving a fresh challenge to the hairdresser’s daily work,” says Anthony Mascolo, TIGI International Artistic Director.
The search for individualism firstly emerged on the streets of East London and New York and quickly filtered into the mainstream, merging with increasing blurred lines between what is acceptable as masculine and feminine, resulting in a fearless atmosphere for self-expression and eclectic styling.
For the new Collection, the TIGI International Creative Team utilized evolving information to inspire, refresh and upgrade their work. Colour often leads the overall look giving the colorist creative power to work with the stylist in the creation of powerful, visual elements. Layering is used to make colours appear stronger, fringes to define shape and curl to create a new, editorial-inspired feeling.
This new format and attitude, with strong shapes and colors, redefines the cuts to give a specific mood, created through the starting point of colour choice. SHIFT comprises eight new haircuts and colour techniques providing the foundation of 2017 creative education programmes in TIGI Academies across the globe.
