Get the NYFW Look: Anna Sui’s 40s Inspired Rolled Hair with a Modern Twist by Garren

The Anna Sui FW2017 collection was inspired by Elsa Schiaparelli and the parties she used to throw – featuring elements of décor with various textures including ruffles, lace and fringe, to name a few.

Garren, celebrity hairstylist and R+Co co-founder, used R+Co products to create various looks based on length and texture – the main look being a modern version of the rolled hair of the 40’s. “We used a variety of products to get the texture we wanted,” Garren continued, speaking of the various styles seen on the runway.

For models with curly textures, Twister Curl Premier ($25) was used to define the wave and curl, while the hair was styled into a bowl cut on models with shorter hair.

• 1. Prep hair with Sail Soft Wave Spray ($29, launching March 2017) for texture, and part down the center.
• 2. Create two “Minnie Mouse twists” at the crown.
• 3. Finish with Outer Space Flexible Hairspray ($29) to lock in the knots at the crown, and Trophy Shine + Texture Spray ($29, launching March 2017) from mid-shaft to ends to encourage natural texture.
