This season’s Badgley Mischka FW2017 collection was incredibly glamorous and stylish so lead hairstylist Peter Gray for Cutler/Redken Salons wanted a look that could work with, not against the clothes.
“We settled on two inspirations, Melrose Avenue and Rodeo Drive in L.A. First there’s the Melrose girl – she’s softer which, is why we went for a loose, romantic curl. Then there’s the Rodeo girl who’s edgy and bold. We took Melrose and enhanced her by adding in mousse and extra volume to her look,” says Peter Gray.
Look 1: Melrose
1. Spritz Cutler Protectant Treatment Spray around the head as a base to protect hair from heat.
2. Section by section, use a 1¼-inch curling iron and wrap the hair from the middle of each section to the ends.
3. Then wrap the section around 2 fingers and pin to head.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 in a brick-work pattern.
5. Dry curls with a sock diffuser to lock in the curl pattern.
6. Set the curls by spraying Redken Fashion Works 12 Hairspray around the entire head.
7. Repeat step 1 until the entire head has been curled.
8. Remove pins and brush out the curls to soften.
9. Finish by spraying Redken Windblown 05 Dry Finishing Spray for a soft, textured look.
