Jomari Goyso is a celebrity hairstylist known internationally for his breakthrough story and his starlit clientele. He joined forces with none other than our friend Farouk Shami, who is launching Jomari into the worlds of everyday women with the project #CHIparaMi.
This is the start of a new charitable chapter in his journey dedicated to latin women, specifically victims of domestic violence. Farouk Systems, Univision and Jomari Goyso will deliver motivational content and brand exposure to the Latina market in Spanish through Univision programming with #CHIparaMi.
The campaign kicked off with Jomari Goyso through an exclusive announcement party in Miami at the EPIC Hotel on August 2016. This merger will raise awareness of CHI and their caring concern for the Latino community throughout major cities in the US. In only six months, the artist has come back to the tropical haven for a #CHIparaMi event in Miami once again, and it was a spectacular success.
“The reaction from the women has been fantastic. More people came than we could fit at the Houston event, and in NYC there were almost 100 people that couldn’t get in!” said Jomair. “Aside from talking about CHI, we educate them on beauty, we don’t just tell them that a product is great, hey, go buy it. Those are two different things, and we want them to feel beautiful, not just carry nice hair. We’re not so much changing their life, but change the way they think, how they feel, based on what looks better on them.”
Dr. Farouk Shami, Chairman and Founder of Farouk Systems Inc., the manufacturer of the CHI® and BioSilk® brands has had a special connection with this hairstylist, in part for their passion for hair, but also for their passion in philanthropy. “I told Farouk that I have always wanted to give back to the community that has given me so much,” says Jomari. “He replied, ‘Sure, what do you want to do, you got it!’ So that was the thing that really got us to unite. I told him I specifically wanted to help victims of domestic violence and he said that every month that I was with them, and during the launch, Farouk surprised two Miami Charities – The Lodge and The Lotus House by donating $50,000 in product donations!”
The event in Miami included styling stations, product displays and discussions about what this campaign means for both Dr. Farouk Shami and Jomari Goyso. He is not only a celebrity but also a famous hairstylist that understands what Latina women need and want.
“It has to do a lot with my grandma,” says Jomari on his stance in giving back. “Within my community, I am who I am because of the women I have had in life. My mother, my sister, I as a man want to do something to give back to all women.”
That’s why, as the new face of #CHIparaMi, Jomari will be helping Farouk Systems spread the word about CHI Haircare tools and products as well as working to give back to women shelters in NY, LA, and Houston.
#CHIparaMi will feature TV spots and unique social content including photos and tutorials from Jomari Goyso as well as motivational and educational tours hosted by Dr. Farouk Shami and Jomari. Six top cities in the United States will be visited to provide beauty education and makeovers within the Latin community and comes with a commitment to donate $100,000 in product monthly.
“We have spoken of starting a foundation that helps women,” says Jomari on the future. “That’s the dream, Farouk has always very generously, said yes and I want to continue this work – helping the Latina community.”
