Video Alert! How-To: Remove Banding in Hair with the Blonde Wand

It’s Thanksgiving week, which means the last-minute appointments are knocking at the salon door! More than likely, you’ll be seeing quite a few bands in your chair, and with the number of clients rising this week through the holiday season, it would be nice to get rid of those in about 20 seconds, right?

In the video, you’ll see how celebrity stylist, blonding expert and co-owner of Nine Zero One Salon Nikki Lee removes a bit of banding from a client’s hair in just a few seconds using The Blonde Wand and Pure Light Crème Lightener by Pravana.

Not sure what banding is? Color banding appears when the new color you are applying to the regrowth overlaps the previously colored hair, or old color. When you apply color on top of old color, it will become darker because it has twice the amount of color on it, creating a horizontal band. The Blonde Wand can help remove those pesky bands when lightening to help speed up the process and ultimately, reduce the amount of time it takes to complete the look.

The Blonde Wand is a unique, patent-pending thermal lightening tool that allows colorists to fully process foil highlights in seconds with less damage than a comparable lightener processed at room temperature for 40 minutes. Combined with Pure Light Crème Lightener, colorists can lift up to seven levels in as little as 10 seconds. This is not a flat iron; the plates do not make contact, allowing colorists to glide or hover over the foils with ease and agility.
