Candy Shaw & Sunlights Balayage shatter record at the Premiere Birmingham Show

SUNLIGHTS, the makers and purveyors of the world’s leading balayage products and education shattered records last Sunday with a trifecta of events at the Premiere Birmingham Show, North America’s show season finale, by doing three major presentations in a single day in the span of eight hours.

10:00 AM (1000 EST); Main Stage: Candy Shaw opened the Premiere Birmingham show on Sunday morning from the Main Stage at 10:00 A.M (1400 GMT). Traditionally the most difficult time slot for a performer to fill (since many of the show’s patrons were up late celebrating the night before), more than six hundred (600) ‘balayage believers’ woke up early to attend Shaw’s standing-room-only main stage presentation. Illustrating some of her signature balayage techniques including ‘skimming’, bowlayage® and ‘double dip’ reds, Candy delighted the crowd with her grass-roots education and focus on ‘raising the bar’ in our industry by enhancing professionalism. Shaw drew thunderous applause when she pointedly asked: “How can we raise our prices and be taken seriously as hairdressers if we are wearing flip flops and bedazzled sweat pants to work?”

Noon (1200 EST); ‘Look & Learn’: After taking her final bow and exiting the Main Stage, Shaw dashed across the convention center to the Grand Ballroom to host four hundred (400) more ‘balayage believers’ for a slightly more intimate 90 minute ‘Look & Learn’ presentation. Shaw was stunned as she entered the ballroom to do her final stage preparation to find that the room had reached maximum seating capacity nearly fifteen minutes before the show was scheduled to start. By show time students lined the walls and sat on the floor to witness up close and personal the balayage techniques Candy performs everyday behind-the-chair to personally service up to thirty-five guests.

2:00 PM (1400 EST); Hands-On: After a brief ‘meet & greet’ and photo session following the ‘Look & Learn’, Candy bolted to yet another ballroom to host a ‘Hands On’ workshop for fifty students who each invested US $220 to hone their hands-on balayage skills on mannequins under the guidance of the SUNLIGHTS Artisan Education Team. Candy held a drawing in which one lucky student won a trip to Atlanta to spend the day with ‘The Balay Lama®’ in her fifty-chair salon, Jamison Shaw Hairdressers.

And as if that wasn’t enough, Shaw completed the day by spending some quality time in her booth where thousands of show goers got to witness live balayage demonstrations for the duration of the show.

SUNLIGHTS sold out of BALAY BOX®-es, the ‘complete balayage class in a box’ containing everything a stylists needs to learn and do balayage along with countless other merchandise and education. Shaw remarked: “You know you’re doing something right when some students attended all three of my teaching sessions and then came back on Monday for more.

SUNLIGHTS will close out 2016 with a two-day Atlanta Academy class on 6-7 November 2016 for 35 students followed by a ‘Look & Learn’ for 315 students outside of Chicago on 14 November 2016 for Premier Beauty Supply, SUNLIGHTS’ Illinois distributer.
