Passion for hair, technical skills, but also an amazing knack for communicating: these are the pillars, built little by little, that have made Mark Hayes, International Creative Director of Sassoon. He is also the winner of multiple awards: twice the British Fellowship Hairdresser of the Year and countless nominations for the title of Creative Head Most Wanted Hair Icon and British Hairdresser of the Year. His challenge, but as he also says, his great opportunity, is to convey a love for the world of hairdressing to future generations.

From the origins to today
For more than 30 years, Mark Hayes has worked for the Sassoon brand. His career began in 1977, when he was an apprentice at the Sassoon salon at South Molton Street in London. During this period, Mark had already understood that he wanted to become a member of the Creative Team, and he began working toward that objective. For him the Creative Team comprised perfectionists, committed to producing only the best. A source of great inspiration and charm.
After having built a successful and faithful clientele, it wasn’t long before Mark was seeking out new challenges. In 1980 he began teaching at the London School and then at the Academy, where his gift for communicating soon earned him the esteem of hairdressers worldwide.
His passion for art and his relationship with his colleagues led him to become Assistant Creative Director and to transfer to the Sassoon salon in Manchester in the summer of 1982. A couple of years later, Mark was promoted to Salon Creative Director and began travelling the world to create looks for trade shows, seminars, and backstage at photo shoots and fashion runways.
In 1985, Mark returned to London as UK Creative Director, responsible for training and the development of the future generations of Sassoon Creative Directors, dividing his time between salon activities and coaching.
Today Mark Hayes keeps busy designing and bringing to life Sassoon hair fashion collections and leads up the international demand of Hair Designer.
